Last Saturday I had the pleasure of going to UGTL 5 @ Project Infest. I arrived a little early with a 360 setup. As this being my 2nd time here I thought I wasn’t going to see anything new. I was wrong, as soon as I walked in I noticed all the new faces and it was still 2pm. That’s when I knew I was in for a good time.
The event started off with casuals for SF4 and a special casual section provided by Angry Bananas. It had all the old school favorite games. Which included but not limited to Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Capcom Vs SNK 2, SFIII Third Strike, Golden Eye 007 (my personal favorite), Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Super Smash Brothers Melee, and more.
Right away I also noticed the art that was being displayed. I was amazed at the skill of the artists there. UGTL staple JSalvador was there with his Chibi-style of art. I bought one of his pieces at UGTL 2 which is still hanging off my wall. Also there was Jessica she had these awesome ladies of Street Fighter pieces. Last but not least was a clay sculptor. I did not catch his name but his Sagat model was sick!
As for the tournament itself we saw the Box Arena crew and the local top players play some hype matches. The turnout was impressive with 62 players. Combofiend took 1st place, Combojack taking 2nd, and OnlineTony213 taking 3rd, respectively. The ambient for the event was always alive with the music and drinks. The atmosphere is nothing like any tournament out there so make sure you check out UGTL 6 coming in March.

LOL it was Leo’s idea, I was just keeping score. I’d have preferred to have done things differently, but oh well. Last minute stuff never works out good…
Good stuff guys.
By the way, even though you said that artist Jessica drew some ladies of street fighter, I know that one of her pieces was Vega, haha.
Yay my article is popular lol
