In a bid to have consumers actually buy Nintendo products this Holiday season, Nintendo is giving value/pastel-minded consumers more choices for satisfying their snotty, spoiled kids for Christmas. Starting on Nov. 6, new Metallic Rose (It’s a girl!- pastel pink) and Midnight Blue (It’s a boy!- pastel blue) versions of the Nintendo DSi XL™ hand-held system will be available in new bundled packages, with a free copy of the Mario vs. Donkey Kong™: Mini-Land Mayhem! game. The bundle will be offered initially at the suggested retail price of $169.99 in the U.S.

Strategically bundling this game, Mario vs. Donkey Kong™: Mini-Land Mayhem! , which offers robust online functionality (relative to other Nintendo games), appears to be a move to increase support for Nintendo® Wi-Fi connectivity and online offerings. Players with a broadband Internet connection will be able to construct their own levels or download additional levels using Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection. Nintendo will be regularly issuing level-design challenges to players of the game through the online connectivity, which in theory would increase replay value.
Beyond the included Mario game, built-in cameras and large screen, Nintendo DSi XL will also be offering players access to hundreds of downloadable games via the Nintendo DSiWare™ service. Users with broadband Internet access can redeem Nintendo DSi Points™ to download digital games. Nintendo DSi Points can be purchased in the Nintendo DSi Shop, or a Nintendo DSi Points Card can be purchased at retail locations.
